Enchanting Coron: Francisco Reyes Airport & R2R Bayview Inn

Date: 14 November 2012 (Wednesday)
Time: 0930H

We arrived at the airport of Busuanga, Palawan, the Francisco Reyes Airport. The bumpy landing was too scary because of its small runway. Only Bombardier Q300 & Q400 can land on that runway and perhaps helicopters and small chartered planes.  The weather was exactly what i envisioned myself, sunny and indeed hot (and I'm loving it).

I think the tour guides were pretty organized, even the drivers, they only have one docking area and all of them wear pink polo shirts, all the AC vans are white so you can distinguish them easily. We didn't have a hard time looking for the agency, CALAMIAN TOURS because there's a big signage of my name there. We met Chris and she led us to the van which will drop us to our hotel. When we got inside, I'm happy there are other guests as well, most of them foreigners. There are also couples like us and some foreigners have diving gears too, I bet they are here for the shipwreck diving in Culion Island.

The 40 minute ride to the town will take you to another world far from what we have here in Manila. A world full of green mountains and nipa huts where locals reside, clean rivers, clear blue skies, beautiful landscapes but there's no planted crops. The tour guide in the van said that the soil here is not that good to grow crops. They import fruits and vegetables in Puerto Princesa making the commodities here in Coron a little bit pricey. You'll just see and appreciate how simple life there is. There is no electricity in some areas. Some bridges were under construction and you'll see roaming goats, horses and cows there. The place is indeed rural.

While enjoying the view, I knew we have one problem. There is no signal on our mobile phones. We are both Suncellular subscribers. I asked the tour guide regarding our concern and she said that the only network available here are Smart & Globe. So sorry for us. But she told us that we manually set our networks and change it from Sun to Smart.  It worked for us.

So here is our hotel, R2R Bayview Inn, At first glance, it does not look like a hotel because there is a hardware in front and some areas are under construction because they are expanding the whole place. But soon as you get inside, it is beautiful also. It has a mini garden.
